I guess I should write about my life in the last couple weeks. Last week I was in Massachusetts for probably the last time for this project and amazingly and surprisingly, everything went well. I celebrated my birthday in Boston with my co-workers and the clients even went out for a drink on Wednesday which I thought was really sweet of them. We went to the North End for dinner at this amazing Italian place and the food was divine. Suzanne and John bought me dinner and I remember sitting there thinking, “Hm, this must be what it feels like when parents take out their kids for dinner…only I can drink more comfortably around them.” It was a good trip even though Kent got annoying but hey, we had fun and made the most of it.
Tyson was driving out to Colorado on Wednesday and was going to pick me up from the airport on Thursday when I got in. I was super excited to get home to see him and my co-workers were teasing me because I was power walking through the airport to get to baggage claim. Tyson drove almost all night and was sleepy so when we got to my place, we had a late lunch and he went to bed. I tried to sleep but couldn’t, but I guess it was ok. I took Friday off since I had to travel Sunday and Tyson didn’t have to start work until Monday anyway so we just hung out and slept a lot.
Friday night I decided to have my belated birthday dinner with friends at Steuben’s and we went out to Lodo after dinner. That was fun, Erika baked my birthday cake which I thought was really sweet since no one ever baked anything for me. Heather came up from the Springs and although Julie is on a terrible sounding diet and couldn’t drink, we all had a good time. It was a short night since I didn’t really feel like partying too late and Lodo’s just gross. I only chose Lodo because really, I wanted to go to Tracks but it was Pride weekend and I think Tyson would have felt extremely uncomfortable and overwhelmed so I took that into consideration and figured we can all suffer through Lodo as one.
Saturday was boring, I don’t think we did much besides sleep and we’re awesome at that. We did go to the Rockies/Brewers game and got into a fight when we got home because I felt overwhelmed with having him constantly there and talking and hugging me all the damn time. Plus it was really hot, my stomach hurt, people kept bumping into me and breathing on me in the mall ride and all I wanted was to get home, cool down, and relax. Instead Tyson kept talking to me and trying to make some sort of physical contact so I got really pissy and yelled at him. It takes me awhile to adjust to having someone constantly in my space; usually a week. But after that, I’m fine I guess.
On Sunday we went to David’s brunch and the gay parade and Tyson got to meet Fox. We ended up leaving around noon so we can watch the soccer game and of course, take a nap. After we woke up way later than we intended, Tyson took me for a ride on his new motorcycle and we went up to Lookout Mountain and had a great time. His new bike’s a lot of fun but a little uncomfortable after awhile. I really have to grip hard with my thighs and they start cramping after awhile. His little peg things for your feet aren’t very long for the passenger so I have to bow my legs in which just hurts. My legs were numb by the time we got off the bike.
So even though I had a hard time adjusting, it helps that we’re both working and out of the house. He has to work 12’s so he doesn’t get home until 7 which gives me about 2 and a half hours to relax and have my down time. I have dinner ready for him as soon as he walks in the door and you know what? I really enjoy it. I enjoy cooking and cleaning for him and I look forward to getting home so I can do those things for him. I’m really enjoying having him around and I dread the day when he has to leave.
I’m really happy that I’m enjoying having him around more than being annoyed by him. Sure he gets too damn clingy and touchy feely and wants to talk about feelings a little more than I would like, but hey, it’s 5-6 weeks where we can be with each other and enjoy the fact that we’re not 700 miles away from each other. I think I can deal. ;)
